Happy New Year Addison Gators!!!
 
Welcome back! Ms. Weston and Mrs. Clarke are excited about the new year! We have planned some new lessons and are starting some new small groups.
 
Important Dates for January:
 
Jan. 7th & 8th- Human Growth, and Development for 5th grade
 
 
 
This month Ms. Weston and Mrs. Clarke will be conducting the following lessons:
  • Kindergarten: Unique as a Snowflake and The Crayon Box that Talked
  • 1st grade: Appreciating Differences and The Problem Solving Lagoon
  • 2nd grade: World of Work and Anger Management
  • 3rd grade: Tolerance and Careers
  • 4th grade: The Effects of Attitude and Tolerance
  • 5th grade: Human Growth and Development and Rumors
 
CAREER CENTERS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!
Ms. Weston and Mrs. Clarke are in need of volunteers for Career Centers for Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade. Career Centers will take place on March 19th 20th, 23rd, and 24th. We need volunteers to help man the stations and facilitate activities with the students. December- Think Win Win

In December, the counseling department at Addison Elementary School is finishing up lessons on bullying and focusing on the topic of friendship. Below are the lessons that we are teaching in the classrooms this month.
 
Kindergarten Lesson: How to lose all of your fiends
First Grade Lesson: Words that hurt friendships vs. Words that help friendships
Second Grade Lessons: Tattle Tongue: Reporting vs. Tattling & It's okay to make mistakes
Third Grade Lessons: Simon's Hook: How to deal with teasing and put-downs & Enemy Pie
Forth & Firth Grade Lessons: Bullying Part 2- 2nd lesson on bullying
 
Please ask your children about the counseling lessons they are learning at school to reinforce the skills we are teaching them. We thank you for all that you do!!

Conference Week and Red Ribbon Week!

Greetings Gators!!!

Next week is Conference Week, Red Ribbon Week and the Book Fair! It will be a very busy week and we are so excited to see all of our parents here at school!

Mrs. Clarke conducted lessons to Kindergarten and first grade the last two weeks discussing healthy vs. unhealthy choices and Saying No to Drugs!!!!! Please look for your student's art work on the walls in the 400 Hall during Conference Week. They drew pictures of healthy choices.

Ms. Weston will conduct Red Ribbon Week lessons next week and the week after to 2nd through 5th grade!


Red Ribbon Week

October 20-24, 2014

Monday –  1. Students will receive a red ribbon.

2. Announcement of Red Ribbon Week on Gator News

    Network

Tuesday – Stomp out Drugs! Students will wear mismatched

                   shoes. Stickers will be given to those who participate.

 
Wednesday –  Take the pledge! Students will sign drug-free pledge

                        stickers.        

                  
Thursday – Wear red day.

 
Friday –    Show your school/team spirit. Addison is drug free! Students will wear school spirit wear or sports team apparel.

This Month is also Anti-Bullying Month. Ms. Weston and Mrs. Clarke will be conducting anti-bullying lessons starting at the end of the month to each classroom. Please talk to your students about what they have learned!

Welcome Back!

Greetings Gators! The Counseling department has been very busy to start off this new school year! It's hard to believe that September is coming to a close and October is almost here! October will be a very busy month here at Addison. We have CoGat Testing (Oct. 7-9), ITBS testing (Oct. 13-16), Conference Week (Oct. 20-24), and Red Ribbon Week! (Oct. 20-24). Please help your children prepare for their tests by making sure they have a good nights rest and providing them with a good breakfast the morning of testing.

In the month of October, the counselors will be conducting Red Ribbon Week lessons to all of the grades. We will be talking about healthy choice vs. unhealthy choices and teaching the children to SAY NO TO DRUGS!!
